In Shanklin’s town centre, Old Village and on the sea front Esplanade there is a shop for just about everything and everybody. On Regent Street and the High Street there is everything from fossils to hand bags, Christmas decorations to camping stoves, guitars to surf boards.
If a pampering is something you fancy there are numerous beauticians and hairdressers. Treat the lady to some hand made chocolates or a nice pair of earrings or a new dress from a small boutique. The men will not be left out. What about an ‘Indiana Jones’ hat or some delicious clotted cream fudge?
For the active you can get your walking boots, golf clubs, even a canoe! There are many sports and activity shops. Kids can find Dinosaur teeth, toys, books or an inflatable shark!
The majority of the shops are individually owned, some being specialist shops with people coming from far and wide for their expertise. For those on holiday in self catering accommodation there are many local shops selling Island produce – fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and dairy.
On the Esplanade can be found all the holiday necessities such as buckets and spades, beach towels and windbreakers. A visit to Shanklin would not be complete without a trip to the Rock shop or the gift shops in the Old Village for a memento of a wonderful holiday.
