Shanklin Regatta dates back to 1851 and remains one of the highlights of the summer calendar. Regatta day provides good old fashioned seaside family fun with events on and offshore.
The presentations for the Regatta Queen and winners of the sand castle competition are always highlights of the daytime events as is the Air Sea Rescue display.
In 2011 the rain held off and once the sun had set the fireworks began! As in previous years the display was amazing as was the atmosphere with crowds gathered at every possible viewing place. Let’s hope that Shanklin Regatta 2012 gets the good weather that it so deserves.
